When Ronald B. Saunders was a boy of about 8 or 9, he overheard his mother, Beatrice Saunders Robinson, having a telephone conversation that would change his life.
"She was telling the national officials of the American Newspaper Guild,of which she was a member, that their convention would not be held in St. Louis if the hotels and restaurants in St. Louis continued to segregate blacks and whites," recalled Saunders, of Penn Hills. I remember thinking, wow, she did that in such a quiet,dignified way.
Mrs. Robinson's powers of persuasion were so effective, in fact, that she and other African-American members stayed in the main hotel of the convention in St. Louis and dined in its restaurants there. And they did it in the early 1950's, when Jim Crow laws were still barring blacks from movie theatres, swimming pools and other public places.
"That's just the kind of person she was, and I really do think that phone call shaped my own life fighting for freedom, justice, equality" said Saunders of his mother, who died Thursday(March 31, 2005) at Shadyside Hospital of liver failure. She was 89.
A lifelong Hill District resident, in 1948 Mrs Robinson was the first African American woman in the United States to be appointed as treasurer to a local unit of the Newspaper Guild--in this case, Pittsburgh's. She went on to serve for 15 years on the local Newspaper Guild's executive board.
An Employee of the New Pittsburgh Courier, where she became the paper's office manager, Mrs Robinson traveled the country as a Representative of the union's local chapter, often herself to be the only African-American delegate at union conventions.
She was never fazed by that, said Lorraine Brown, of Harrisburg, Mrs Robinson's best friend and sister-in-law.
"She had about as much inner strength as anyone I've known, " said Mrs. Brown."She was effective without being offensive and she usually got her way because she was so persuasive."
A graduate of Schenley High School in Oakland, Mrs. Robinson knew early on that she would complete her education, even if lack of money-- and being a black woman at a time when even few white women went to college--meant it would be years before she realized that goal. She attended classes at Carnegie Tech, Duff's Iron City Business College, and eventually, in 1956 received her degree as a licensed practical nurse from the Catherine McCauley School of Practical Nursing.
Her first husband, Thomas Saunders, with whom she had two sons, died in World War II. In 1952, she married James S. Robinson, a civil rights activist and advocate for troubled youth who had helped to integrate the Highland Park swimming pool the year before. He died in 1997.
Besides her newspaper activities, Mrs Robinson was a longtime president of the Francis Street Friendly Circle Club, a neighborhood service organization dedicated to helping residents of the Hill District. Its work included donating televisions and other equipment to the Centre Avenue YMCA, contributing to the United Negro College Fund, providing camp scholarships to children in the community and donating clothes and money to needy families.
Mrs. Robinson was also active at Christian Tabernacle Church, where she served as a trustee, treasurer and choir member, and a beloved Bible studies teacher at the Harty Bible School, where she served as vice-president and dean, recalled the Rev.Kenneth Barber, now the church's summer pastor. He described her as woman of great spirituality and knowledge about the Bible "who inspired many students over the years in the first-year Genesis class."
Despite Mrs. Robinson's public accomplishments, she was equally committed to being a mother and strong role model for her children, said her son, arranging to send him and his brother Thomas to a private school in Maine, Fryeburg Academy, " so we could have the best education possible."Both boys went to college.
Her standards were as high for herself as for her children, he added.
"One of my most vivid memories is watching her study for one of her nursing exams, and when she got a grade of 99, she said' that will never happen again.' And the next time, she got a 100."
Besides Mr. Saunders, of Penn Hills, and Thomas J. Saunders, of Woodbridge,Va., Mrs. Robinson is survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Christian Tabernacle Church, 2601 Centre Ave. A funeral service will be held at the church tomorrow at 11 a.m.

I am not sure what GOP Congressional Candidate Corey Poitier was thinking with his reference to President Barack Obama as Buckwheat, but I wasn’t happy when I heard it. At the same time, Poitier’s comment made me think about race in America, and the efforts of some African Americans to tap dance their way into political office.

Poitier’s remarks were off-script in a speech he was giving to earn added respect from his fellow Republicans. He was joining the chorus of tea baggers and racists who have continuously worked to undermine the president, making Barack Obama public enemy number one for passing health care reform. Not since the OJ Simpson trial have Americans been so angry at a black public figure, and Obama would be hated less for having been involved in dog fighting. Brother Poitier, by making his comments about Obama, has not only proven that he’s an especially opportunistic black Republican, but an unintelligent one as well. He would surely fit right in with Sarah Palin. Even Juan Williams would not compare Obama to Buckwheat, and he’s as ridiculous as they come.
Corey Poitier’s comment reminds us of one important fact that we sometimes forget in our “post-racial” world: Black people can be incredibly racist too, sometimes more so than whites. The kind of self-hatred that Poitier displays with his comments would never be replicated by someone like Colin Powell, who is also a Republican. The idea that Poitier is an especially unskilled politician is further represented by the fact that he has raised an earth-shattering $1,500 dollars in campaign contributions, barely enough money to buy a used moped to ride himself to Washington. I am sure that his willingness to further fuel the racial hatred being thrust onto the president will cause his donations to skyrocket.

Poitier, being the opportunist that many politicians can be, found that comparing Obama to Buckwheat would be both comical and degrading enough to thoroughly remind his white supporters that he has no commitment whatsoever to respecting African American men. In his remarks to CNN, the politician even went out of his way to state that he meant no disrespect to Obama by comparing him to Buckwheat and that everyone loves the Little Rascals’ most famous black character. Oh, so I guess a black Republican giving a speech about the flaws of Obama’s health care plan really meant to compliment the president by comparing him to Buckwheat. That makes sense (o-tay!).
The Republicans never cease to amaze me, but then again, the Democrats aren’t angels either. But one good thing about the actions and remarks of the Republican party is that they are reminding us every single day that America is certainly not post-racial. There is an old saying around Tar Hill Number 2 in Republic PA. that "you can take the miner and his descendants out the mine, but you can't take the slime, dirt and scum-filth of the mine out of the miner".
Babies coming out of the womb typically are not cussing, swearing or using racially or other insulting language. A baby, infant or child has to be taught the derogatory usage of language and words in the learning systems of observation, environmental influences, rote, sounds, perceptual factors and by hearing family members talk mostly by the mother, father and grandparents. All of these factors influence how a baby or infant first uses certain words and language. That's why we say a baby or child has to be taught how to be rude or offensive because it is a learned behavior which is reinforced by internal environmental conditioning usually by the mother or father in that respective home. Children learn what they hear and see in their internal and external environments.
I wonder when and where Vice President Joe Biden first heard the word F........ and how often did he hear this word? Did all of the kids in Biden's neighborhood use that kind of language and did they learn that language from their peers or in their homes or both?
This type of offensive language is obviously common to all socio-economic groups in the USA.

The Democrats Win Round One As Obama Signs The Landmark Health Care Bill: But The Fight Has Just Begun

The Democrats have won round one as Barack Obama signs the historical Health Care legislation in the Oval Office which became law on Tuesday.
The sinister, lying and deceitful Republicans in the Senate have promised to do everything in their power to prevent the "Affordable Health Care for America Act" from being enacted in round number two of this fight for the soul of the American voter.
The gang of 13 (now 14) State Attorney Generals filed lawsuits against this sweeping legislation seven minutes after President Obama signed the bill into law and they have vowed to fight to the finish.
Virginia and Idaho have enacted legislation blocking requirements in the bill and the State Attorney General in Florida claims he will seek to place the Health Care Bill on the ballot box. At least 6o per cent of the voters are required for approval relative to rejecting this issue (Health Care Bill) on the ballot in Florida.
The political climate in the USA is so polarized that we could be on the verge of a cross-class war.
I wonder why these State Attorney Generals haven't filed legal challenges to Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, or the Veterans Health Insurance Programs? And why didn't those 14 states file legal challenges to all of the previous named Acts when they were passed ? Hundreds of millions of Americans have benefited by those Socialistic/Communistic programs called Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Vets Benefits Programs.
The U.S. Constitution does say that the Federal Government may regulate interstate commerce for the welfare of the public good. Thus I can't see how any Federal Judge on any level unless it's in Alaska would rule in favor of the plaintiffs from those 14 states.
These 14 cases will be consolidated by the time they reach the John Roberts led U.S. Supreme Court and we will probably have a 5-4 decision if they rule. I think John Roberts and Sam "The Man" Alito would love to get back at President Obama. So to all you Obama supporters and Democrats, the fight indeed has just begun.
Who will do a better job of selling and explaining this monumental piece of legislation to the American people---the Democrats or the Grand Olde Party?
President Obama and his Co-Hort's in the Democratic Party did a mediocre job of selling and explaining the Health Care Reform Bill to the American people.
The first thing you learn in Salesmanshipology 101 is you have to know the product you are selling two hundred percent better than your targeted audience. When you have mastery of the product you are selling your message must be clear and concise to your targeted demographics so there will be no misinterpretations or confusion about what you are selling. You have to believe and have faith that the product you are selling is the best product on the market. It is also vitally important that you know the buying habits of your targeted (group) which means you have to study religiously those buying habits.Whereby the seller(Obama) should know their buying traits, habits, and their culture better than they know themselves.
One of the problems Obama and the Democrats had is that they kept changing the product they were attempting to sell to the American people which has resulted in poor public approval ratings do to this confusion. Further you have to know your opponents product better than they know it. The Republicans really didn't have a coherent consistent Health Care Reform Bill that was people friendly and they merely went through the motions of grandstanding and obstructing the process of Health Care Reform.
Now President Obama has to travel around the country to sell the product of ( Affordable Health Care For America Act) because he and the Democrats did a very poor job of selling this Act before it became the law.
Obama's strategy is definitely ass backward.
Can one imagine selling a Mercedes- Benz SLK55AMG to a reluctant buyer, and when the purchaser attempts to turn in the vehicle after 48 hours from the date of the purchase the sales person(Obama) attempts to sell, or persuade he or she (Customer) that the car they bought is the best on the market therefore they should keep said ?

NHTSA informed Toyota in 2002 that the problem with the accelerator pedal was in the electronics but Toyota did absolutely nothing to correct the problem. And the folks at NHTSA basically sat on their reports and did not follow through on their own recommendations to Toyota to remedy said problem.
Therefore it seems to me that NHTSA would be just as culpable as Toyota in the instant case and legal action against them should be explored.

Why Has It Taken So Long For The Milledgeville Police and Georgia Bureau Of Investigation To Thorougly Interview Ben Roelisthburger ?

I am baffled and perplexed as to why it has taken the Milledgeville Georgia Police Department, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation so long of a time to interview the Steelers Quarterback Big Ben Roelisthburger. Yes, I understand that the Milledgeville Police Department, is not "Scotland Yard" but something doesn't smell right in Milledgeville, Georgia. Why did the Georgia Bureau of Investigation withdraw its request for a sample of Ben Roelisthburger's DNA?
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has a reputation as being one best law enforcement agency's in the Country and they are to be commended for doing an outstanding job of solving all of the "Atlanta Child Murder's."
Nevertheless if one of the Black QB's or Black players in the N.F.L. such as Donovan McNabb, Brandon Marshall, Adrian Peterson, Mike Vick, or Chad Ocho Cinco would have been accused of sexual assault the undercover racist producers at ESPN and the other media outlets would be reporting on this incident 24/7. If Hall-Of Famer, Michael Ervin would have been accused of sexual assault in Way Back, Georgia that incident would have received more media courage than the present day Heath Care Reform debate.
Dan Rooney's hand picked N.F.L. Commissioner, Rodger Goodell is quick to lasso Black players for such rule infractions as a running red light before their cases have been adjudicated by a court of proper jurisdiction. But in the case of Big Ben, it appears as though Roelisthburger has been given a free pass by Commissioner Goodell. Why has it taken so long for Goodell to interview Big Ben? Is Goodell's reluctance to interview Big Ben, based on the the legalities involving Uncle Ben or the color of his skin or both?
Tony Dungy pointed out last month that several of the N.F. L. teams were violating the spirit of the "Rooney Rule" in interviewing candidates for head coaching vacancy's but Goodell refuses to impose sanctions on those teams that have violated the Rooney Rule, and who are not in compliance. I asked this question of Mr. Goodell! What good are rules and laws if they are not going to be enforced and applied fairly, consistently and objectively?

Why Should Any Intelligent American Be Surprised That Some of The Trash Among The Tea Party Protesters Used The "N" Word? Racist Parents=Racist Kids

The coward Tea Party protesters who called Representative John Lewis and other members of the Congressional Black Caucus, the "N"word on March 20, in Washington D.C. in their Anti-Health Care Reform rally are nothing but pure unadulterated trash. Those cowards in the Tea Party didn't have enough heart to confront or engage the members of Congress in an intellectual discussion face to face on the nature of their concerns so they hid behind other members to shield their identity. Cowards with overwhelming odds always hide behind material objects until they can muster up enough courage to attack innocent Americans.
I would like to see those Tea Party Cowards go into the heart of Southeast D.C., Northwest D.C. or Northeast D.C. and use that racially offensive language toward the residents in those respective neighborhoods.
Racist parents produce and nurture racist offsprings, which results in a mentally ill racist society.
Any Black person or Negro that belongs to the Tea Party or Republican Party in the USA needs to be castigated and ostracized from any association with people of color.

The Big East Men's basketball teams in the NCAA Tournament played like sugar & spice and they faded like a Vanilla Fudge Sunday on a hot summer's day in July. All these Big East teams were overrated except for West Virginia and the Orangemen of Syracuse.
Did Pitt's Ashton Gibbs forget that he was suppose to play two half's of basketball? Why didn't the All World Pitt coach Jamie Dixon design a few plays for Gibbs that would have put him in a better position to score ?
Why wasn't Ashton Gibbs working harder to get in a position to score?
The inside play of Gary McGhee was atrocious. McGhee couldn't grab any offensive or defensive rebounds and he can only make a basket on a dunk when none of his opponents are around the hoop. McGhee like the so-called high school All-American Dante Taylor appears to be very soft and timid and both players have candy hands. Perhaps coach Dixon will put all his players on a serious weight program this off season. Dixon also needs to show some films of Sammy "Bam" Clancy, Jerome Lane, and Jimmy Bolla perfecting the art of offensive and defensive rebounding.

The Big East Men's basketball teams in the NCAA Tournament played like sugar & spice and they faded like a Vanilla Fudge Sunday on a hot summer's day in July. All these Big East teams were overrated except for West Virginia and the Orangemen of Syracuse.
Did Pitt's Ashton Gibbs forget that he was suppose to play two half's of basketball? Why didn't the All World Pitt coach Jamie Dixon design a few plays for Gibbs that would have put him in a better position to score ?
Why wasn't Ashton Gibbs working harder to get in a position to score?
The inside play of Gary McGhee was atrocious. McGhee couldn't grab any offensive or defensive rebounds and he can only make a basket on a dunk when none of his opponents are around the hoop. McGhee like the so-called high school All-American Dante Taylor appears to be very soft and timid and both players have candy hands. Perhaps coach Dixon will put all his players on a serious weight program this off season. Dixon also needs to show some films of Sammy "Bam" Clancy, Jerome Lane, and Jimmy Bolla perfecting the art of offensive and defensive rebounding.

President Barack Hussein Obama, predicted the Kansas Jayhawks would win the NCAA men's basketball tournament. I stated in my blog post on Friday March 19, that the Kansas Jayhawks were very vastly overrated and would loose in the "Sweet Sixteen ". Well the Jayhawks never made it to the "Sweet Sixteen " they were pummeled by the Panthers from that tiny obscure school called Northern Iowa 69-67.
Kansas was beat by Northern Iowa in every facet of the game which includes coaching. The play of the Kansas guards was terrible and it just goes to show that if you don't bring your A + game to the big dance you will go home like the overrated Kansas Jayhawks. The Jayhawks were going through the motions of playing basketball with a half-hearted effort, which was not a formula for winning.
The Kansas players liked intensity, passion, and true grit. I guess they thought Northern Iowa was going to just roll over and play Opossum.

The American Newspaper Guild, Pittsburgh Unit, held their Annual Convention in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania in 1951. The article titled "Women and Children First Is Slogan For Special Convention Committee" appeared in the Guild Reporter dated March 23, 1951.
Blogger Black Buzz's mother, Mrs Beatrice Saunders Robinson was the first Black woman in the United States to be appointed as a treasurer to a National Union, which was the Pittsburgh Unit of the American Newspaper Guild of America. Mrs. Robinson was also chairman of the Pittsburgh Courier Unit of the American Newspaper Guild (ANG), and was a member of the executive board of the Pittsburgh Unit of the American Newspaper Guild for 15 years.
For the convention held in Pittsburgh, PA in 1951, Mrs. Robinson was a member of the women's entertainment committee which planned special activities for Guild wives and children during convention week. Other members of the women's entertainment committee were as follows: Ms. Kay Pavanin, Mrs. John Trogus, Mrs. Harold Dietrich, Mrs. Ella Kennihan, Mrs. Arthur Moore, and Ms. Zora Unkovich. The Covention was held June 25-29, 1951.

Pittsburgh--"Women and children first" is the slogan adopted by the women's entertainment committee for the ANG convention to be held in Pittsburgh the week of June 24.
Headed by Mary Shine Saffer and Helen M. Minear, the committee includes active Guilds women and wives of local Guild officers.
They have planned a full week of entertainment for wives and children of convention delegates.
The kickoff reception will be held on June 24 with the United Steelworkers as hosts. From then on the delegates get busy, and the wives may (hide) themselves (in) the Presidential Suite in the hotel which has been reserved as their private social center.
Members of the women's committee will be there to greet the visitors, serve them tea and crumpets (or beer), play nurse maid to the youngsters and escort the guests on tours, or be their bridge or canasta partners.
Tours will include a visit to the H. J. Heinz plant, to the Duquesne brewery, Civic Center (which includes a visit to the University of Pittsburgh's famed Nationality rooms) and a TV show at Gimbel's.
The Press Photographers annual show will be in progress at Carnegie Art Gallery and Museum, and there will be one of Pittsburgh's unique inclines for those who wish it.
For the youngsters there will be special entertainment at the hotel and trips may be arranged, by request, to the Zoo and (to) one of the large amusement parks.
The Committee hopes that these activities will suffice for the feminine visitors until it's time for the closing cocktail party to be sponsored by the publishers of the Sun Telegraph and Post Gazette.
*Blogger Black Buzz notes that all the Pittsburgh Courier employees were part of the ANG. The Courier Unit of the ANG was headed by my mother, Mrs Beatrice L. Saunders. The pressmen and truckers were part of Jimmy Hoffa's Teamsters. The unionized Courier personnel received the same pay compensation and other terms and conditions of employment as their similarly situated all White colleagues at the Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph and the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.
I had the pleasure and opportunity of meeting and knowing Mrs. Robert L. Vann, the owner of the famed Pittsburgh Courier. She was quite a remarkable and kind person. I remember eating many berries out of her garden and playing various games at her residence in Oakmont, PA. This great lady, Mrs. Vann was able to obtain a lifeguard job for me at one of the county swimming pools at South Park. I turned down the lifeguard job at South Park, and selected to work at Kennard Pool, which was in my neighborhood in the Hill District section of Pittsburgh, PA.
Mrs. Vann's relationship with my mother was very warm and friendly and was reminiscent more of a mother/daughter relationship as opposed to employer/employee.

It appears as though the supposedly toughest Men's basketball Conference in the country the Big East was vastly overrated by the experts with losses by Georgetown, Marquette, and the fighting Irish.
In each of the three games lost by the Catholic schools from the Big East they were outplayed and out coached and that's why they call it rightfully March Madness. All players and coaches in the NCAA Tournament have to bring their A+ game or they will go home. Their are many highly talented players that play for these so-called Mid-Majors and Low-Majors and smaller schools within said tournament and none of these teams can be taken for granted.Further their are millions of talented high school kids in the inner cities and rural areas playing basketball, who simply can't qualify academically to play for Duke, Georgetown, or North Carolina. Plus the fact the most NCAA Division 1-A schools only have 12 or 13 rostered players so consequently a player like Armon Bassett of Ohio U gets overlooked by the factory basketball schools either because of his size or the their inability to evaluate talent.
West Virginia should not take the boy's from Morgan State lightly. Most of the players from Morgan State have played against the the players from the University of Maryland and other schools in the district during the summer. Morgan State walloped the "Terps' on January 8, 2009. In that game last year against Maryland they took Maryland All American Vasquez's heart. These are tough kids from Morgan State and they have a very good inside game, and the Mountaineers should not sleep Morgan State or they will be going back to Cabin Creek, West Virginia.

Presently the entire country of Mexico is having an epidemic of crime.
All Americans & Canadians are urged to avoid going or traveling to the country of Mexico at all cost. The country of Mexico is just simply not safe to travel to or to transact any type of business.
There is no semblance of law & order anywhere in Mexico.
Why would any intelligent U.S. citizen want to spend their hard earned dollars in the world's most unsafe and corrupt country?

Villanova fought they could bring their B-minus game into the tournament against Robert Morris and win, but they only won by a nat's eye lash. The teams to watch are the Ohio State Buckeyes and the young team from Kentucky. I would like to see the boys from Arkansas-Pine Bluff upset the Dukie's. Maybe they can bluff their way to a win over Duke! The brackets were set-up to favor the Duke Blue devils and the Kentucky Wildcats have the toughest road to overcome.
Superior guard play will determine who this year's champion will be and the best guard play is in the Big East, Southeastern Conference and with the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Brandy Steals, who is a third cousin of blogger Black Buzz won the McDonald's Black History Makers of Tomorrow award in February, 1992 as a junior at Freedom Area High School, which is in Beaver County Pa.

NEW SEWICKLEY TWP.-Melvin and Adrena Steals of Conway expect excellence.They push, and their three children strive to reach the high standards.
But Brandy Steals, 17, youngest of the children, still seems sheepish when congratulated on winning the McDonald's Black History Makers of Tomorrow award.
"I'm happy and amazed, " Brandy said." Out of so many people, they picked me."
Brandy and a student from Schenley High School in Pittsburgh were chosen for the honor from applicants in 40 counties in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, and West Virginia.
Dennis Bruno, a guidance counselor at Freedom Area High School, nominated Brandy. She in turn wrote and entered an essay on her dream to become president of the United States.
Her ambition and writing skill paid off. She was chosen a winner by judges from Pittsburgh radio station WAMO, a Pittsburgh Public Schools writing teacher and an operations manager for Tri-Ad-Mac, a 40-county cooperative of McDonald's restaurants that sponsored the contest.
'It's my parents, my family, that give me the motivation and support. And I work hard, too.'

Brandy received a plaque at a small ceremony Wednesday at Freedom, where she is a junior. A smiling picture of her is on place mats now in use at area McDonald's restaurants, flanked by lists of great black leaders of the past.
Tri-Ad-Mac began the contest a year ago as a way to recognize black high school students who are exceptional leaders or scholars.
Brandy's father is a reading teacher at Freedom Area Junior High School. He said his daughter is academically oriented because discipline runs in the family. The Steals' eldest child, Melvin, is a senior at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business. Daughter Chelsea is at Penn State-Beaver, studying to be a teacher.
"They do push me sometimes," Brandy said of her parents."I sometimes fight them, but in the end it turns out best.
It's my parents, my family, that give me the motivation and support. And I work hard too."

Rev.William Henry Lavander Wolfe, affectionately known as Papa of Charlotte North Carolina, is Brandy's great great grandfather and Papa Wolfe is blogger Black Buzz's great grandfather. Dicie Gady Rorie Wolfe warmly known as Mama Dicie, of Pee Dee River, South Carolina is Brandy's great great grandmother and Mama Dicie is Black Buzz's great grandmother. Dicie was a Cherokee Native American. In the recorded and documented Wolfe family history, Dicie is described as having a very light complexion which had a reddish tinge to it and a face which literally covered with freckles.
Mama Dicie also had red, straight hair which she wore long in the early years and short when she became older.
*It is very important that all family histories be accurately recorded & documented and kept alive.

NEW SEWICKLEY TWP.-Melvin and Adrena Steals of Conway expect excellence.They push, and their three children strive to reach the high standards.
But Brandy Steals, 17, youngest of the children, still seems sheepish when congratulated on winning the McDonald's Black History Makers of Tomorrow award.
"I'm happy and amazed, " Brandy said." Out of so many people, they picked me."
Brandy and a student from Schenley High School in Pittsburgh were chosen for the honor from applicants in 40 counties in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, and West Virginia.
Dennis Bruno, a guidance counselor at Freedom Area High School, nominated Brandy. She in turn wrote and entered an essay on her dream to become president of the United States.
Her ambition and writing skill paid off. She was chosen a winner by judges from Pittsburgh radio station WAMO, a Pittsburgh Public Schools writing teacher and an operations manager for Tri-Ad-Mac, a 40-county cooperative of McDonald's restaurants that sponsored the contest.
'It's my parents, my family, that give me the motivation and support. And I work hard, too.'

Brandy received a plaque at a small ceremony Wednesday at Freedom, where she is a junior. A smiling picture of her is on place mats now in use at area McDonald's restaurants, flanked by lists of great black leaders of the past.
Tri-Ad-Mac began the contest a year ago as a way to recognize black high school students who are exceptional leaders or scholars.
Brandy's father is a reading teacher at Freedom Area Junior High School. He said his daughter is academically oriented because discipline runs in the family. The Steals' eldest child, Melvin, is a senior at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business. Daughter Chelsea is at Penn State-Beaver, studying to be a teacher.
"They do push me sometimes," Brandy said of her parents."I sometimes fight them, but in the end it turns out best.
It's my parents, my family, that give me the motivation and support. And I work hard too."

Rev.William Henry Lavander Wolfe, affectionately known as Papa of Charlotte North Carolina, is Brandy's great great grandfather and Papa Wolfe is blogger Black Buzz's great grandfather. Dicie Gady Rorie Wolfe warmly known as Mama Dicie, of Pee Dee River, South Carolina is Brandy's great great grandmother and Mama Dicie is Black Buzz's great grandmother. Dicie was a Cherokee Native American. In the recorded and documented Wolfe family history, Dicie is described as having a very light complexion which had a reddish tinge to it and a face which literally covered with freckles.
Mama Dicie also had red, straight hair which she wore long in the early years and short when she became older.

Hopefully President Obama will have the opportunity of appointing the second African American to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court.
It should come as no surprise that the Negro who sits presently on the U.S. Supreme Court, Clarence Thomas is married to a closet bigot Virginia Thomas, who hails from the state of Nebraska.
Virginia Thomas presently is the founder of a "Tea Party Anti Black group called Liberty Central, which is allegedly a non-profit. Mrs. Thomas claims she started the group because she wanted to focus in on all the things that made America great and she felt that Barack Obama was taking the country to far to the left. (I want my country back) sound familiar.
Mrs. Thomas comes from a very humble background and she elevated her class standing by marrying Justice Thomas even though Thomas is a "unsavory looking inadequate intellectual Stepin Fetchit type of Negro". If Mrs. Thomas didn't marry Uncle Clarence she would be back on the farm in Nebraska shucking corn. Justice Thomas has provided Virginia Thomas with a upscale middle class lifestyle of living that she would not have enjoyed if she would have married the average Joe.
George H.W. Bush showed his deep disdain and contempt for Black Americans by knowingly nominating Clarence Thomas with his inferior mediocre academic and legal qualifications/experience to sit on the high court.
Old marginal Clarence played the race card that he claims to now hate in his Senate Confirmation Hearing on his nomination to the high court by saying he"was being subjected to a "High Tech Lynching". Thomas's statement about high tech lynching intimidated and frighten the weak and inept Democrats and Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Further Justice Thomas the self-hating Negro has been a beneficiary of Affirmative Action programs at Holy Cross and Yale which are the types of programs he now hates with a selfish passion.
Perhaps Mrs. Thomas needs a true lesson on what really made America great.

I have visited many of the top tier one public and private schools in the country and the UVA grounds is the most scenic, and picturesque of all the schools that I have visited which provides the perfect climate for learning, research, and individual growth and development.
UVA also provides students with a Ivy League type of education which is second to none surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah valley. The University of Virginia has a world class renowed faculty and staff which is the equal to any of the Ivy's and other elite schools.
Charlottesville, Virginia has been rated the best place to live in the United States by Frommer's and various other experts who rate the quality of life for residents in towns or cities.
I have a daughter and niece who are both distinguished graduates of the University of Virginia who are doing quite well in their respective professional careers.
* I am wondering if Thomas Jefferson is turning over in his grave or proud of the fact that the descendants of Black African Slaves and Free Blacks have the highest graduation rate for any public or private institution of higher learning in the Country.

Orange County prosecutor sues Toyota over defects

SANTA ANA, Calif. — The Orange County district attorney has filed a lawsuit against Toyota Motor Corp., accusing the automaker of knowingly selling hundreds of thousands of vehicles with acceleration defects.
District Attorney Tony Rackauckas said at a news conference Friday that his office has the right to bring consumer protective action on behalf of Orange County residents.
"We need to make sure that when Toyota says 'Oh, what a feeling' and 'Moving forward' that they are talking about great cars," Rackauckas said, referring to the company's slogans.
Toyota spokesman Mike Michels said he had no comment because the company hasn't been served with the lawsuit.
Orange County's lawsuit accuses Toyota of using deceptive business practices to become the world's top automaker. The suit seeks civil penalties of $2,500 per violation under the Unfair Business Practices Act, along with the recovery of attorney fees and investigative costs.
"We demand to know: Did Toyota, in their relentless pursuit to become the No. 1 carmaker in the United States, put profits over people?" Rackauckas asked.
The district attorney's office hired a private law firm with expertise in consumer safety liability cases to help with the case.
Toyota has recalled more than 6 million vehicles in the United States because of acceleration problems in multiple models and braking issues in the Prius hybrid. Regulators have linked 52 deaths to crashes allegedly caused by accelerator problems.
At least 89 class-action lawsuits have been filed against the Japanese automaker, which could cost the company $3 billion or more.
Toyota's U.S. shares fell 12 cents to $76.82 in Friday afternoon trading.

BusinessWeek Ranks McIntire Tops Among Business Programs at Public Universities

March 5, 2010 — The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia has been ranked second among the nation's best undergraduate business programs according to BusinessWeek's annual rankings, and it is the top-rated program among public institutions.
Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business was ranked first. MIT's Sloan School of Management was ranked third. The 2010 rankings were announced Thursday, during a live Web chat with BusinessWeek editors.
"Although I am disappointed that we dropped one place, I am pleased that we moved up significantly in the recruiter ranking, from No. 52 to No. 4," said McIntire Dean Carl Zeithaml. "We also retained our A-plus grades for teaching quality, facilities and services, and job placement, one of only six programs to earn straight A-plus grades. All other scores and grades are very strong."
In the five years that BusinessWeek has ranked undergraduate programs, the McIntire School program is the only one to be consistently ranked either first or second.
"Zeithaml said McIntire is unwavering in its pursuit of excellence. "Although we are not defined by rankings, I am confident that many of our curriculum innovations and new placement activities will have a positive effect on reputation and rankings," he said. "I sincerely appreciate the terrific efforts of our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends to create and sustain our tremendous educational experience and community.
"We will continue to improve and innovate for all of the right reasons, and I know that our students, recruiters and other constituents will appreciate and support the excellence of our programs."
In addition to acknowledging McIntire's outstanding programs, services and facilities, BusinessWeek made special mention of the school's strong sense of community. "The caliber of students is excellent, and new friendships and connections are always being made," one student reported in the BusinessWeek survey. "Despite the competition, there is a great sense of community among McIntire students, who are willing to help each other whenever possible."
Other Virginia schools ranked in the top 50 were the University of Richmond at No. 15, the College of William & Mary at No. 25 and James Madison University at No. 41.

U.Va. Engineering Students Set to Complete Clean-Water Project in Africa

Moving clean water from a mountaintop spring in West Africa to a village located six miles away requires quality engineering. It also requires dedication.
University of Virginia students, with the support of the Charlottesville Rotary Club, have traveled to Wum in western Cameroon, Africa, for the past three years to help people in the region build a sustainable clean-water system.
The Rotary Clubs of Charlottesville, Blue Ridge and Albemarle will host a fundraising dinner on March 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville to support completion of the project.
Once completed, the system and its six-mile pipeline will supply water to Wum's 50,000 residents and help to prevent water-borne diseases such as dysentery and typhus. In the village of Wum alone, the local health department reports approximately 240 deaths annually from waterborne diseases.
Wum is an example of a much larger water scarcity problem in developing regions. On a global scale, the World Health Organization estimates nearly one-fifth of the world's population – about 1.2 billion people – live in regions where water is scarce.
Andres Clarens, assistant professor of environmental and water resources engineering and faculty adviser of the U.Va.’s independent Engineering Students Without Borders group, which will coordinate students' work in Wum this summer, said interest in the project is high.
"One of the great things about a project like this is that it provides an opportunity for students to learn, firsthand, about the nuances and challenges of international development work," he said.
Currently, Jonathan Mellor (Col ’06, CE ’13), Tyler Milne (ChE ’11) and Kate Villars (CE ’10), president of Engineering Students Without Borders, are helping to organize the project.
"It is my hope that through projects such Water for Wum the University can support the efforts of dedicated students who want to realize their capacity for action by applying their skills to a real world problem,” said Villars. “It is only through real world challenges that students can move beyond the purely technical aspects of their work to discover the important underlying political, economic, and cultural contexts that define and shape their work."
Over the past three years, eight U.Va. students, including those from the Engineering School, McIntire School of Commerce and College of Arts & Sciences, have worked on the project.
Students first signed on to the project in 2007 after Thomas Dunnells, a Rotary Charlottesville member and former Peace Corps volunteer who lived in Cameroon for two years, presented the project to engineering professor Dana Elzey, faculty adviser for the Engineering in Context program.
The students have since designed a water storage system and completed data analysis to ensure clean water delivery. They are in the process of helping villagers complete a design for capping the springs to prevent cattle from contaminating the water and will be traveling to Cameroon in June to finish the pipeline.
To create a sustainable system, it has been important for students and project organizers to work closely with Wum's residents and tribal elders.
Dunnells recalled the residents' dedication to the project in his account of 3,800 villagers digging a 2.3-mile ditch in just five hours.
"The ditch was dug primarily by the women, which is common practice in their culture," Dunnells said. "When I asked them why they were so dedicated, they said that clean water is essential for their village, not only for themselves but for the survival of their children."
The Rotary Club of Charlottesville and U.Va. engineers have established a partnership with the Rotary Club of Bamenda, Cameroon, and hold regular teleconferences with the town elders and local technicians who will provide labor and logistics support.

The BIBLICAL ARCHAEOLOGY SOCIETY OF PITTSBURGH PA. will present a lecture by Dr. Steven Collins titled "Tall el-Hammam: Is Sodom Found at the Rodef Shalom Congregation, 4905 Fifth Avenue on Sunday AFTERNOON March 21, 2010 at 2:30 PM.
Dr Collins is one of the foremost and eminent Archaeologist in the world and his lecture and presentation on the "Five Lost Cities of the Plains should quite interesting and educational.
According to Dr. Collins the powerful city-state known today as Tall el-Hammam is one of the largest Bronze Age cities in the southern Levant.
Dr. Collins has excavated the site in the Jordan Plain over the last five years, revealing an occupational platform of approximately 150 acres: outer and inner city fortifications whose defensive walls range from 13 to 25 feet thick. It dominated the socio-political and economic life of the Jordan Valley, while influencing the history of the surrounding region, for over two thousand years. The surrounding landscape includes hundreds of domains, monliths, stone circles, and tombs from the two thousand years of the Chalcolithic through the Bronze Age, approximately 4300 to 1600 BCE. After its abrupt and violent end, it remained unoccupied for five centuries.
Dr. Collins further states that the area during the days of Abraham and Lot, the Middle Bronze Age, was a verdant agricultural paradise.
But when Moses and the Israelites arrived in the Plains of Moab during the Bronze Age, it was wasteland with no inhabitants.
The current excavations have pieced together compelling evidence that solves the riddle of Tall el-Hamman's destruction as well as the mystery of the location of Sodom and Gomorrah, Edmah, and Zeboim, the infamous cities of the Dead Sea Shore.

When will President Barack Obama finally take "The Bull By The Horns and direct and order the NHTSA via the U.S. Justice Department to get a Temporary Restraining Order against Toyota Motor Corporation of America to cease and desist from building, selling, repairing, and advertising all of its products until it can be proven by Toyota, in consultation with NHTSA, and two independent Automotive experts that all said Toyota's manufactured and sold in the USA are safe to drive.
How many more accidents, injuries and lives will be lost before the Obama Administration finally takes the problem of Toyota product safety seriously ?
According to the NHTSA Prius had 24 known consumer complaints in 2004 relative to safety, and in 2010 the Prius already has over 147 Safety Complaints involving its poorly designed and engineered Prius.
When will the cover-up by Toyota and NHTSA STOP ?
Shouldn't we as consumer's demand excellence in all products sold in America ? In a population of well over 300 million people in the U.S. don't we have a couple of young Ralph Nader types that can keep these deceitful Multinational Corporations and Governmental Agencies in check ? Who is montoring NHTSA and where is the data ?

Pitt Loses A Tough Hard Fought Game To Notre Dame,50-45: But What Happened To Pitt's Ashton Gibbs

The Pitt Panthers lost a tough quarterfinal Big East game against Notre Dame 50-45 . However Pitt's leading scorer Ashton Gibbs failed to show up as he continually passed up open shots and never once attempted to take the ball to basket or penetrate through the stellar Irish defense. Gibbs was only going through the motions of playing basketball and his lack of effort and intensity probably caused the Panthers to lose again to the boy's from Notre Dame. I don't care who you are playing against you are suppose to give 200 per cent even if your opponent is "Godzilla or "King Kong ".
At five feet eight I played forward for Slippery Rock Area High School in Slippery Rock Pa. I played against the great Fuqua brothers of Union Twp. high school who were 6'4' and 6'5' and I held my own against those brothers because I thought every time the rebound went up it was mind regardless of my postioning on the court. Note the Fuqua brothers Union Twp. team of Lawrence County was the only team to defeat the State Championship team from Wampum Pa. led by the famous Allen brothers Ronnie, and All World Major League baseball player Richie Allen. Even though Union Twp.walloped my Slippery Rock Rockets when the game was over the Fuqua brothers said "man who is that little guy you have playing under the basketball ". I wasn't a good basketball player and everyone in Pittsburgh knew that I was a great swimmer, an accomplished track star, dominating football & baseball player but I walked and bicycled six miles a day one way to play basketball for Slippery Rock High. Oh! I could dunk the ball and I could jump as high as the gym ceiling. Ugh ! After walking and bicycling all those miles I thought I was "Super Man".
In one game against Enoch High School in located in Saxonburg Pa. one of their loyal fans called me a "Nigger" after I furiously blocked one of their players shots by slapping the ball in his face and rebounding the ball by spreading my legs so wide intentionally that my feet hit him in his private area. I started to go up into the stands after the fan who called me the epithet but I was intercepted and restrained by the former assistant football and track coach of Schenley High School Fred Lucas, who was also a member of the Slippery Rock High School basketball team.
Mr Gibbs, what do you think the Notre Dame players are saying about your performance in the game that they shut you down ? Why coach Dixon didn't make the necessary adjustments that would have freed you up more is beyond my comprehension. Pitt's so called high school All American Dante Taylor kept blowing his assignment on the switches in the lane which permitted Notre Dame to get many easy baskets. Yes this is one game that the great Jamie Dixon was out coached by Mike Brey.
But the Panthers still had a great season and they exceeded all expectations and hopefully this will be a learning lesson for Mr. Gibbs and the entire Panther basketball organization. What you do or don't do in practice shows up in the game. How you practice is how you play in the game. Mr Gibbs always give 200 per cent so your opponent can say "Now I know who Ashton Gibbs is " and what a ball player". That's what the opposing players used to say about Pitt legend Sam Bam Clancy.

Fryeburg Academy, located in Fryeburg Maine was established in 1792.
Daniel Webster was one of the Academy's first headmasters and Fryeburg Academy is one of the oldest private schools in America.
The Academy's charter was signed by John Hancock, one of the founding fathers and the first person to sign the Declaration of Independence.
Down East Magazine in its November, 1999 issue, described Fryeburg Academy as " tucked into a tiny town in the foothills of the White Mountains is one of the most unusual--- and successful---private schools in America".
Rayfield Payne of Fryeburg Academy was the State of Maine Cross Country Champion in 1952, 1953, 1954, & 1955.
Rayfield Payne-55-from the Portland Press Herald "Rayfield Payne, of Denmark, recognized as one of the outstanding cross country runners of the State in high school and academy competition, attributes much of his success to the fact that he gets in some of his training as he runs two miles to and from the school bus line each day. In his way he emulates some nationally known marathon runners who train as they run to and from work. Payne, a student at Fryeburg Academy, has lacked any real competition this year as he has broken the course record in every dual meet in which he has competed. At the State prep school meet at the University of Maine he came in first with an 11-second lead over his teammate and closest competitor, Lucien Hamilton'54.
No record was made as weather conditions were very poor. In addition to cross country, Payne plays basketball, and runs the mile and half-mile in track."

The Israelis Again Make A Fool Out Of The Obama Adiministration With There Announcement Of The Building of 1600 New Settements In East Jerusalem

Last spring, Barack Obama told the Israelis to halt settlement building on the West Bank. The response---the Israelis rejected Obama's calls for a freeze on settlement building in the West Bank. Obama did absolutely nothing to the Israelis when they basically turned their noses up at him in their defiant rejection of the U.S. position.
On March 8, 2010, the Israelis told the entire world that they were going to build 1600 new settlements in East Jerusalem even while the Secretary of State-At-Large, Joe Biden was in Israel supposedly doing the bidding in restarting the Obama failed peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis.
It appears as though the Obama administration doesn't have a fluid and coherent Middle East policy that would bring the Palestinians and Israelis to the table. It is also apparent the Israelis sense this lack of cohesion and depth in Obama's policy toward the Jewish State and their Arab brethren. Thus they have taken full advantage of Obama's and Hillary Clinton's lack of knowledge and understanding of the complexities surrounding the peace process.
In restarting talks between the Israelis and the Palestinians, Joe Biden with his empty self serving statements in support of Israel, looks as though he is in conflict with Special Middle East Envoy George Mitchell's role as the Obama team continues to look like "The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight".
The Iranians and Syrians made a complete fool out Hillary Clinton when she made a request that Syria begin to move away from their relationship with Iran and stop supporting Hezbollah. Ahmadinejad and Bashar Assad held a quick news conference to denounce Clinton's suggestions and they bowed to strengthen their relationship. Maybe that's why Obama told Hillary to stay at home this time because of her blunder with Iran and Syria.
Barack Obama doesn't seem to know how to conduct constructive engagement with Israel because he is in the hip pocket of AI PAC. Obama's and Mrs Clinton's inexperience and lack of leadership skills shows on a daily basis in the International arena. Wherein as long as that type of blind naked one sided U.S. relationship exists with Israel, nothing will change that remotely resembles any form of peace.
Over the last decade, the U.S. taxpayers have given the Israeli Government over 87 Billion dollars for which they have used the balk of those funds to build settlements and for their own defense. The Israelis have conducted one of the biggest Ponzi schemes in history as they pimp the American public for their hard earned tax dollars to satisfy their (Israelis) own greed and self interest. When will this one sided blind relationship with this rogue state of Israel cease? What has the U.S. received from the Israelis as result of that 87 billion dollar aid investment? More Israeli intransigence!
Mr. Biden, why didn't you ask the Israeli leaders to come clean on their WMD's and Thermo-Nuclear weapons? Why isn't the corporate sponsored news media asking the tough questions about Israel's nuclear arsenal? Why isn't the U.N. demanding that Israel come clean on its nuclear weapons arsenal? And why aren't the Arab states along with other Muslim nations demanding accountability of Israel on its WMD's and Nuclear Weapons? When will the Israelis permit inspection of its ground level and below ground nuclear sites by the IAEA?
When will the Israelis sign the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty or any other type of Limited Nuclear Test Ban? Any Arab or Muslim State in the Middle East would be rather naive and foolish not to develop their own nuclear weapons program ASAP with Israel sitting back licking their chops with between 200 and 500 thermonuclear weapons and a sophisticated delivery system. Israel has quietly supplanted Britain as the World's 5th Largest nuclear power, and may currently rival France and China in the size and sophistication of its nuclear arsenal. Although dwarfed by the nuclear aresenals of the U.S. and Russia, each possessing over 10,000 nuclear weapons, Israel nonethless is a major nuclear power, and should be publicly recognized as such. Today, estimates of the Israeli nuclear arsenal range from a minimum of 200 to a maximum of about 500. Whatever the number, there is little doubt that Israeli nukes are among the world's sophisticated, largely designed for "war fighting" in the Middle East. According to the reliable source, The Center for Research on Globalization Israel has "neutron bombs," miniaturized thermonuclear bombs designed to maximize deadly gamma radiation while minimizing blast effects and long term radiation -in essence designed to kill people while leaving property intact..16 Weapons include ballistic missiles and bombers capable of reaching Moscow. The experts from the Center for Research on Globalization further report that the Israeli bombs range in size from "city busters" larger than the Hiroshima Bomb to tactical min nukes.The Israeli arsenal of weapons of mass destruction clearly dwarfs the actual or potential arsenals of all other Middle Eastern states combined, and is vastly greater than any conceivable need for deterrence." All of those long and short range nukes are aimed at the Muslims states in the neighborhood.
How come the so-called double talking Middle East Peace activist have been reluctant to discuss, let alone challenge, the Israeli monopoly on nuclear weapons in the region ? And what about the blatant double standard which sees the U.S. and Europe on the one hand condemning Iran, and Syria for developing weapons of mass destruction, while simultaneously protecting and enabling the principal culprit, ISRAEL.
Actually I do not believe that the majority of Israelis are desirous of sharing any of the land in question in the so-called occupied territories whether it be in East Jerusalem, the West Bank or in the Golan Heights.
Although small in numbers, the Ultra Orthodox, the Ultra Ultra Orthodox, the Ultra Ultra Ultra Orthodox are very influential on the present-day Israeli government and when you advocate your interpretations of your religion with the Geo-Political realities of today in the "Holy Land", you have one big lethal mix ready to explode. These Ultra Orthodox Jews are some of the most racist people in the world.
As mentioned earlier, I do not believe that most of the Israelis want to share the land in question and we are no closer today on March 10, 2010 in obtaining a two state solution than we were in 1947 or 1948. Most Islraelis believe they have a "Divine Right " to all the land in Judea-Sumaria.
In many ways the Israelis' behavior toward the Arabs living in the occupied territories is reminiscent of the treachery of the "Third Reich" in Germany.
The Arabs living in the occupied territories deserve their own viable state and those Arabs will not continue to roll over and play patsy while the Israelis continue with their duplicitous campaign of ethnic cleansing of the Arabs.

Over the last decade, the U.S. taxpayers have given the Israeli Government over 87 Billion dollars for which they have used the balk of those funds to build settlements and for their own defense. The Israelis have conducted one of the biggest Ponzi schemes in history as they pimp the American public for their hard earned tax dollars to satisfy their (Israelis) own greed and self interest. When will this one sided blind relationship with this rogue state of Israel cease? What has the U.S. received from the Israelis as result of that 87 billion dollar aid investment? More Israeli intransigence!
Mr. Biden, why didn't you ask the Israeli leaders to come clean on their WMD's and Thermo-Nuclear weapons? Why isn't the corporate sponsored news media asking the tough questions about Israel's nuclear arsenal? Why isn't the U.N. demanding that Israel come clean on its nuclear weapons arsenal? And why aren't the Arab states along with other Muslim nations demanding accountability of Israel on its WMD's and Nuclear Weapons? When will the Israelis permit inspection of its ground level and below ground nuclear sites by the IAEA?
When will the Israelis sign the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty or any other type of Limited Nuclear Test Ban? Any Arab or Muslim State in the Middle East would be rather naive and foolish not to develop their own nuclear weapons program ASAP with Israel sitting back licking their chops with between 200 and 500 thermonuclear weapons and a sophisticated delivery system. Israel has quietly supplanted Britain as the World's 5th Largest nuclear power, and may currently rival France and China in the size and sophistication of its nuclear arsenal. Although dwarfed by the nuclear aresenals of the U.S. and Russia, each possessing over 10,000 nuclear weapons, Israel nonethless is a major nuclear power, and should be publicly recognized as such. Today, estimates of the Israeli nuclear arsenal range from a minimum of 200 to a maximum of about 500. Whatever the number, there is little doubt that Israeli nukes are among the world's sophisticated, largely designed for "war fighting" in the Middle East. How come the so-called double talking Middle East Peace activist have been reluctant to discuss, let alone challenge, the Israeli monopoly on nuclear weapons in the region ? And what about the blatant double standard which sees the U.S. and Europe on the one hand condemning Iran, and Syria for developing weapons of mass destruction, while simultaneously protecting and enabling the principal culprit, ISRAEL.
Actually I do not believe that the majority of Israelis are desirous of sharing any of the land in question in the so-called occupied territories whether it be in East Jerusalem, the West Bank or in the Golan Heights.
Although small in numbers, the Ultra Orthodox, the Ultra Ultra Orthodox, the Ultra Ultra Ultra Orthodox are very influential on the present-day Israeli government and when you advocate your interpretations of your religion with the Geo-Political realities of today in the "Holy Land", you have one big lethal mix ready to explode. These Ultra Orthodox Jews are some of the most racist people in the world.
As mentioned earlier, I do not believe that most of the Israelis want to share the land in question and we are no closer today on March 10, 2010 in obtaining a two state solution than we were in 1947 or 1948. Most Islraelis believe they have a "Divine Right " to all the land in Judea-Sumaria.
In many ways the Israelis' behavior toward the Arabs living in the occupied territories is reminiscent of the treachery of the "Third Reich" in Germany.
The Arabs living in the occupied territories deserve their own viable state and those Arabs will not continue to roll over and play patsy while the Israelis continue with their duplicitous campaign of ethnic cleansing of the Arabs.

Representative Dennis Kucinich of Ohio is correct in his analysis of the present Senate Health Care Reform Bill presently being pushed by President Obama which bill will create a financial bonanza for the Insurance Companies and Wall Street. Where is the Public Option and the single payer system? Obama has sold his soul to get a political victory for a bill that really is not remotely true Health Care Reform.
So when our "Harvard Wonder Child" loses this Health Care Reform battle, I don't want to hear any lame excuses.

Supposedly in America's system of jurisprudence, there is a presumption of innocence that is given to anyone that has been accused of an alleged crime. Until we know all of the facts surrounding the accusations made against Pittsburgh Steeler Quarterback, Big Ben Roethlisburger for an incident that allegedly occurred in Milledgeville, Georgia, we will hold our opinions in abeyance.
Big Ben Roethlisburger could be guilty of poor judgement relative to the types of places he frequents for his social activities. I am still befuddled as to why any highly intelligent high profile professional athlete would hang out in unsavory places such as bars, taverns, night clubs, gambling casinos and upscale resorts. Many of these places of ill-repute are top heavy with groupies, women on the prowl, drug merchants, baller's, player's, slick-hip-pimp talking types, and all other types of criminal social misfits of the underworld. In a continually floundering hard economy, these million dollar pro athletes are targeted by unscrupulous women and by all sorts of the criminal elements from all classes.
Most Americans know the salaries of these spoiled high profile pro athletes and many know the types of places that they like to patronize. The environment in most bars, taverns, nigh clubs and some resorts is dangerous for the health, safety and well being of most folks that frequent these cesspools. Many women and men both go to these "Smokey Joe's Cafe" type of places for the same reason to meet each other and to get acquainted and possibly score over a few drinks.
So why would these star pro ball players visit places where there is a high probability of running into an unsavory low life or an ambitious gold digger? Why not just wear a sign saying: "I signed a 102 million dollar contract and I'm an open mark"? Yes unfortunately professional athletes are judged by the company they keep and the places they visit.
So why would a 28 year old mature man visit or hang out in a place where College age Coeds frequent ?
Many of these professional athletes think their rear ends weigh a ton and that they can get away with anything that the average Joe would be censored for what would be considered despicable behavior and they may even be imprisoned for violations of our various state and federal laws.
Like it or not, high profile professional athletes are role models and they are judged by the choices they make or don't make in a world filled with instant gratifications and quick fixes.
The Big Ben Roethlisburger Chronicles has to be a public relations nightmare for the Rooney family as they try to understand and comprehend Big Ben's judgement in the instant case. Big Ben's incidents in Georgia and Nevada are an embarrassment to the entire Steeler Organization and public opinion could possibly turn sour against Mr. Roethlisburger.
Mr. Roethlisburger is the "on the field" leader of the boy's from the steel city and certainly his judgement and actions in the Milledgeville, Georgia case could have far reaching ramifications for the Steelers as they prepare for the upcoming NFL Draft in April. Isn't there someone like Tony Dungy within the Steeler Organization that could possibly counsel Big Ben and who could act as a steady off the field advisor ?

ToyotaGate: Toyota Is Using The Same Type Of Deception With The American Consumers That Led To December 7, 1941

While in college, I had a Japanese classmate who informed me that while his countrymen were talking about peace with FDR with one hand, they were holding a samurai sword behind their backs with the other hand. He claimed the Japanese set the U.S. up for an attack on December 7, 1941. My classmate also stated that when they (Japanese) were talking about peace with FDR, their Armada of Aircraft Carriers were moving rapidly toward Pearl Harbor for a "date which will live infamy".
According to my Japanese classmate, the Japanese were deliberately baiting FDR and talking out of both sides of their mouths about peace.
My classmate further stated that the Imperial Government of Japan viewed the U.S. and Britain as great Imperial White Supremacist powers who would threaten Japanese interest in parts of Asia, Indo-China, and particularly in the South Pacific. The student from Japan stated that all the other Asian Nations, except for Japan, were incapable of stopping the blind naked adventurism, aggression, and exploitation of the Asian continent by the European nations. My classmate further stated that when Japan invaded Manchuria in the 1930's, that England nor the U.S. did anything to repulse that invasion. So both the Yanks and Brits were viewed as easy soft nations that would not interfere with Japanese plans for expansion throughout Asia. My classmate maintained that Japan had beaten Russia so badly in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904, that they (Japanese) really believed they were superior to any race or ethnic group on the planet and they viewed Adolf Hitler as a madman to be used to further their own Imperial ambitions in Asia. My classmate claimed that Hitler wanted to have the U.S. bogged down in Asia/Pacific so that the U.S. would not have sufficient troop strength to fight the Third Reich on the continent of Europe.
The one thing that my classmate kept saying in 1963 is that the U.S. may have beaten the Japanese in the military war, but Japan would win the long range economic war against the U.S. My classmate advised that Japanese don't fight wars for one or five years but they engage in intense battles called "wars" for 100 year cycles. In other words, they fight wars for 100 years and perhaps the Japanese surrender aboard the battleship Missouri on September 2, 1945 did not end the real conflict between Japan and the United States.
My swimming coach in college was also Japanese. He contended that Japanese culture is inundated with such things as surprise attack, ambush, deception, subterfuge, camouflage and related strategies and tactics and that those strategies and tactics were an integral part of both the Ninja and Samurai traditions.
Now doesn't Toyota have the American consumer by the tail so that many Americans have become dependent upon Toyota for jobs and their livelihoods? How sickening!
It's a known fact that all U.S. Companies & Corporations and Corporations worldwide engage in deception and deceit. But the folks at Toyota have taken the art of deception to newer heights that make Enron and Worldcom look rather amateurish. It is obvious that Toyota has placed a premium on profits for the sake of safety while the American consumers have been systematically brainwashed about Toyota and other Japanese manufacturers relative to quality. The quality coming from Japan is not what it is cracked up to be and more in-depth evaluations of all Japanese motor vehicles by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration along with independent evaluators would be in order. It is very unfortunate that Consumer Reports, Consumer Guide, Motor Trend, Car and Driver, Road & Track and various other so-called experts in the field fed us that nonsense about Japanese quality being better than the American bred manufacturers. I'm sorry its simply not true. But the Japanese Car Companies won the public relations battle by feeding us a steady diet of brainwashing and deception about their alleged quality superiority.
The American consumer should refrain from buying any products from Toyota. What is needed is consumer solidarity against the Toyota Motor Corporation of America and Toyota worldwide.

How About Those Boys From North of The Border: Canada Wins Hockey Gold With 3-2 Sudden Death Victory Over U.S.

The boys from North of the border (Canada ) captured the men's hockey team Olympic gold medal with one of the most exciting games I have ever witnessed with a 3-2 sudden-death overtime victory against Team USA on Sunday.
The United States scored with under a minute remaining in regulation to force overtime, but Canada's biggest star, The Pittsburgh Penguins Sidney Crosby, scored the winning goal at 7:40 into the overtime period.The U.S. men's hockey program has come a very long way, and now is considered the second best program in the world. The U.S. team fought back gallantly after being down 2-0, and they put forth a first class effort with style and true grit. And the players from the U.S. should hold their heads high for they have everything to be proud of in battling the world's premier hockey club in the Canadians.
* The Canadian hockey team also had one Afro-Canadian ( Black) on its team and his name is Jarome Iginla. Jarome also helped the Canadian hockey team to win gold medals in 2002, and 2006 Olympics. So Mr. Iginla came back for the third time to win a gold medal on the home turf in Canada. Iginla is a five-time NHL All Star and the Calgary Flames' all time leader in goals, points, and games played.
Mr.Iginla is a descendant of the Yoruba tribe of upper Nigeria.
*Blacks have been associated with playing hockey in Canada as far back as 1820 and the "Colored Hockey League" in Canada lasted from 1894-1930. Blacks players such as the Carnegie Brothers dominated Canadian hockey and hockey historians George and Darril Fosty in their book titled Black Ice : "The Lost History of Colored Hockey League of Maritimes " state that Black player named Eddie Martin of the Halifax Eurekas invented the modern day slap shot. The Fosty brothers also say that Afro-Canadians helped to shape the modern day game of hockey.
The Colored Hockey League teams beat their white Canadian-counterparts so often that the white racist bigots burned down the colored homes in the Negro section of said Nova Scotia known as AFRICVILLE.
The Canadian government needs to pay reparations to the descendants of that brutal slaughter and act of genocide in Africville. Not one single racist terrorist was tried for killing a Negro and for the burning of the colored homes down in Africville. Justice delayed is justice denied, and that horrible tragedy that happened in Africville remains in the hearts and minds of most Afro-Canadians.
The white hockey teams of Canada also banned the Black players from entry into their leagues in the latter part of the nineteenth and twentieth century.
Finally, in 1958 Willie O'Ree became the first Black to play in the NHL with the Boston Bruins. Blogger Black Buzz notes that the Boston Redsox was the last major league baseball team to integrate their roster with Negro players when they brought up Pumpsie Green on July 21, 1959 to play in that band box called Fenway Park.
If Africans Americans were given an equal opportunity to play hockey in the U.S. they would dominate, and excel in the sport just as they do in Pro Football & Basketball. Typically the vast majority of hockey rinks and ice skating rings in the USA are not located in communities were under class and lower class African Americans reside. Hockey equipment is very expensive and its take far less to learn how to play basketball than mastering the game of Hockey. And most middle class African Americans have been hard hit by the present economic crisis in the U.S. and many are not in a position to pay for expensive ice skating lessons nor or they capable of paying for costly hockey lessons with the various Youth Leagues in the Suburbs. Most predominately African American high schools in the USA do not have bona-fide hockey teams. Afro- Canadians live in well integrated areas and they have access to many ice skating and hockey rinks. Hockey is still considered to be the National pastime in Canada.
Those that do not know their history are destined to repeat it." Those that rely on others to tell their story will most likely be forgotten. Black African slaves adapted well to every environment and community, engaged in activities closely associated with their church, and desperately sought to be equals; for their descendants throughout the African Diaspora continue to struggle and toil.

Iginla is a five-time NHL All Star and the Calgary Flames' all time leader in goals, points, and games played.
Mr.Iginla is a descendant of the Yoruba tribe of upper Nigeria.
*Blacks have been associated with playing hockey in Canada as far back as 1820 and the "Colored Hockey League" in Canada lasted from 1894-1930. Blacks players such as the Carnegie Brothers dominated Canadian hockey and hockey historians George and Darril Fosty in their book titled Black Ice : "The Lost History of Colored Hockey League of Maritimes " state that Black player named Eddie Martin of the Halifax Eurekas invented the modern day slap shot. The Fosty brothers also say that Afro-Canadians helped to shape the modern day game of hockey.
The Colored Hockey League teams beat their white Canadian-counterparts so often that the white racist bigots burned down the colored homes in the Negro section of said Nova Scotia known as AFRICVILLE.
The Canadian government needs to pay reparations to the descendants of that brutal slaughter and act of genocide in Africville. Not one single racist terrorist was tried for killing a Negro and for the burning of the colored homes down in Africville. Justice delayed is justice denied, and that horrible tragedy that happened in Africville remains in the hearts and minds of most Afro-Canadians.
The white hockey teams of Canada also banned the Black players from entry into their leagues in the latter part of the nineteenth and twentieth century.
Finally, in 1958 Willie O'Ree became the first Black to play in the NHL with the Boston Bruins. Blogger Black Buzz notes that the Boston Redsox was the last major league baseball team to integrate their roster with Negro players when they brought up Pumpsie Green on July 21, 1959 to play in that band box called Fenway Park.
If Africans Americans were given an equal opportunity to play hockey in the U.S. they would dominate, and excel in the sport just as they do in Pro Football & Basketball. Typically the vast majority of hockey rinks and ice skating rings in the USA are not located in communities were under class and lower class African Americans reside. Hockey equipment is very expensive and its take far less to learn how to play basketball than mastering the game of Hockey. And most middle class African Americans have been hard hit by the present economic crisis in the U.S. and many are not in a position to pay for expensive ice skating lessons nor or they capable of paying for costly hockey lessons with the various Youth Leagues in the Suburbs. Most predominately African American high schools in the USA do not have bona-fide hockey teams. Afro- Canadians live in well integrated areas and they have access to many ice skating and hockey rinks. Hockey is still considered to be the National pastime in Canada.
Those that do not know their history are destined to repeat it." Those that rely on others to tell their story will most likely be forgotten. Black African slaves adapted well to every environment and community, engaged in activities closely associated with their church, and desperately sought to be equals; for their descendants throughout the African Diaspora continue to struggle and toil.

It is with great pleasure that we can inform you of a “Tremendous Event”. The Schenley Spartans football team has won the 2009 Pittsburgh City League Football Championship. The Spartans defeated Oliver 34-32 in a thrilling double overtime game. It was certainly a great victory and it registered the Spartans third football championship in the 94 year school history.

As concerned Schenley alums we would like to pay tribute to our young student athletes. We would like to purchase championship rings for the entire team and staff. Each ring cost $150, thus we have to raise $10,000. In order to achieve this goal we need your help. We would like for you to sponsor three players rings, $450, yes it is tax deductible. However you may donate whatever fits your budget.
This is an historic event because Schenley will no longer exist as an active high school after 2011.
