When Is the Last Time John McCain Had a News Conference?

Why are Steve Schmidt and Rick Davis preventing John McCain and Sarah Palin form having bona-fide news conferences with the press at a time when this year is the most important election of the last 50 years? What are you afraid of Mr. Schmidt and Mr. Davis, more McCain/Palin gaffes, misstatements, blatant errors and outright lies and distortions? Is it because McCain can’t tell the difference between Sunnis or Shiites or whether Spain is in Europe or Latin America or is it SEC vs. FEC, and a whole host of other McCain gaffes? I think the American people deserve more, Mr. Schmidt and Mr. Davis.
