BALTIMORE.... The Steelers All World Troy Polamalu ripped the ball from Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco with a few minutes remaining in the game which was picked up by the Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley who raced to the Ravens 10 yard line.
Steelers went on to score the winning touchdown on clutch catch and run by Isaac Redman with 2:51 to play. This was a gutsy performance for the entire Steeler squad.
This was a very hard fought game, and the Steelers really need to upgrade their ground attack in the future by drafting someone who can consistently get the tough inside yards particularly in the Red Zone.
The last BIG TEN running back to make it into Canton Ohio was the great Bobby Mitchell, and he went into the Hall-Of Fame as a great wide receiver and part-time running back from the Washington Redskins.
Rashard Mendenhall runs the ball too timidly, and he shies away from contact when running between the tackles. When Mendenhall arrives at the point of contact with a defender he goes down easier than a Vanilla Sunday on a hot summer day. Any NFL back can run through a hole if its large enough for an 18 wheeler too go through.
If the Steelers can stay healthy they might have a chance to meet the Ravens again in the playoffs. And those young Steeler wide outs better learn how to perfect the art of catching passes because it appears as though Hines Ward has lost a step or two. The Steelers miss Santonio Holmes but they would never admit it.
A game ball should be given to Troy Palamalu and Ben Roethlisberger.
