McCain’s Bell Curve

John McCain, the Republican nominee for the presidency, stated in a radio interview on July 19th that “in a time of war, the commander-in-chief’s job doesn’t get a learning curve”. This statement was made in reference to Senator Barak Obama. It should be noted that John McCain finished twelfth from the bottom of his 1958 U.S. Naval Academy graduation class. John McCain is what some may call a “legacy admit” because his father and grandfather were 4-Star Admirals in the United States Navy. He shares the same company with the infamous Lt. Colonel George Armstrong Custer who also finished at the bottom of his class at the West Point Military Academy in West Point, New York.
It appears as though Mr. McCain should not have been admitted into the U. S. Navy’s highly esteemed Air Pilot Flight Training School because of his bottom of the barrel class ranking. The U.S. Navy admitted John McCain in the Air Pilot Flight Training Program at the height of the cold war, again due to his father and grandfather’s status. There were other Naval Academy graduates in McCain’s class who were in the top 10% of the graduating class who were not admitted into the prestigious Air Pilot Flight Training Program. It is an obvious case of preferential and discriminatory treatment in the admission of John McCain into the Flight Training Program. Thus the Navy violated its known policy and academic criteria in reference to John McCain’s admission. Whites have always had their brand of affirmative action from the inception of this country which has always worked for white males who were privileged who had inferior intelligence and academic records and thus were unjustly placed in positions which had greater responsibility, authority and power even though they lacked the ability and skills to master a specific task or job functions.
Indeed the Navy made an exception in admitting McCain into the Air Pilot Flight Training Program by grading him on a curve that made him appear as though he was qualified. His learning curve did not work too well when he was shot down over Hanoi in 1967 while being distantly off course of his intended target. Mr. McCain, tell the American people how many plane crashes you had. Is it 5, 6, 7, 8?

Legacy admissions at the service academies are specifically reserved for the children of Medal of Honor winners, and not for the offspring of flag officers.

The above comment is correct, but there is certainly a long tradition of basically unqualified people getting into the academies because of their "legacies." That's how I got in ...
