Mr. Derek Jeter is the consummate professional on and off the field of play and he is quite deserving of "Sports Illustrated's Sportsman Of The Year Award. I am not ready to say Mr. Jeter was the greatest shortstop in Major League history but he is one of the greatest shortstops to ever play the game. Would we be having this conversation about Mr. Jeter if he played his entire career in a place like Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, or Kansas City, Missouri ? Indeed playing his entire career in the "Big Apple has also contributed to Jeter's star quality without a doubt.
