New York, New York
The New York Yankees beat the Los Angeles Angels 5-2 in game 6 of the American League Championship Series to advance to the World Series for the first time since 2003. The Yankees will play Game 1 against the Philadelphia Phillie's on Wednesday night in New York.
I do recall when the last time these teams met in the World Series it was in 1950 and the ever victorious Yankees beat the Philadelphia Whiz Kids of Robin Roberts , Curt Simmons, Richie Asburn , Dale Ennis, Granny Hamner,Willie "Puddin Head" Jones, Bob Miller , Jim Konstany, Dick Sisler son of George Sisler four straight tough games. The Yankee line up featured many future Hall of fame rs such as Jolt in Joe Di Maggio, Big Johnny Mize , Phil Rizzuto, Yogi Berra and the young Whitey Ford.
In 1950 arguably the Yankees had the best four starters in baseball in Vic Raschi , Allie Reynolds ,Ed Lopat and the brilliant young left hander in White Ford. Yes Cleveland had the "Tribe" with Bob Feller whom many experts feel was the greatest pitcher of all time along with Early Wynn, Bob Lemon, and Mike Garcia. The young "Whiz Kids were a tough crew but the Yankees just simply had the far better talent and in the final analysis cream always rises to the top. The 1950 Whiz Kids could never make it back to that historic fall classic and they were basically just a group of one year wonders. Make no mistake about it, my Brooklyn Dodgers were a far superior team than the Philadelphia Phillie's in 1950 but the Dodgers went into a tail-spin at the end of the season and that permitted the upstart Whiz Kids to capture the National League Crown. Sorry "A Citizen's Blogger" from 1947 to 1956 that era was known as the Wars between the Yankee Empire and the Dodger Empire , and I am very well aware of the fact that the Giants and Indians played in the World Series in 1954 and the best all around ball player to ever play the game the "Say Hey Kid (Willie Mays ) Giants beat the Tribe four straight games.
Guess what A Citizen's Blogger, Phillie's Nation, Phillie's Home Plate, I didn't have to look up one thing relative to the previous mentioned above information on your said"Whiz Kids , Yankees or Dodgers. How's that for a memory ? I watched all four of the Yankees wins over the Whiz Kids on the Bu be Tube in 1950.
*For all you great fans that make up the Yankee Nation, Joltin Joe DiMaggio, was by far the greatest player to ever play the game of baseball next to (Willie Mays). None of today's crop of baseball players come remotely close to matching the talents of Mays, DiMaggio, Ruth, Mantle, Aaron, The Great Roberto, Frank Robinson, Stan The Man Musial, The Great Ted Williams , Duke Snider, Josh Gibson , Bob Gibson, Sandy Koufax , Warren Spahn , Leroy Satchel Page, Lou Gehrig, Tom Seaver , Roy Campanella , Big Don Newcomb, Cool Papa Bell , Minnie Minoso , Juan Marchial, Hack Wilson ,Walter Johnson, Cy Young , Hoyt Wilhelm , Ernie Mr. Cub Banks, the great Billy Williams, Brooks Robinson, Eddie Matthews , Rod Carew , Mr. Red Sock Carl Yastrzemski , Big Don Drsydale , Joe Morgan, Johnny Bench , Hank Greenburg , Al Kaline , Jackie Robinson , and yes the great Pete Rose who deserves to be reinstated into the National pastime and put "Charlie Hustle " in the Hall-Of-Fame;

Those Bums From the Bronx have no chance of beating the Phillies.
Hey dlevere they always referred to the Dodgers as Bums because they lost so many games back in the forties and thirties. The New York Yankees are considered baseball Royalty, but never Bums.
Derek Jeter is a first ballot Hall of famer and so is Mariana Rivera. A Rod has been tainted like most players of his era so if you put him in the Hall just put asterisk besides any records that he or others of the era from 1989 to the present break because they are all suspect. The money line in Vegas Says the Yankee's win this series big time.
You ever hear of Philadelphia Steak Hoagies ? The Hot Dogs on Coney Island are second to none if you like Junk food.
By the way dlevere whatever happened to the Philadelphia A's.
History is on the side of the Yankee's and how can any team beat likes of the New York Yankee's with all that big time history on thier side ?
I have finally recovered from the Phillies loss. The Yankees will be richly rewarded for their insolence next year.
